Gas Work, Testing & Certificates

Gas work can be dangerous. Badly fitted and poorly serviced appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. Using an illegal gas fitter can end up costing you thousands of pounds to have fixed. It could put the lives of you, and your loved ones in danger. MLC is registered with Gas Safe Registered Number 303178 - you can be assured that we have all the necessary qualifications and experience to give you the best possible service.

Gas Testing

  • Check for correct ventilation.
  • Check the appliance is positioned in the right place.
  • A flue combustion test to ensure there are no unsafe emission escaping from your appliance.
  • Check that appliances and controls are operating correctly and are safe to use.
  • All the safety devices are working.
  • Check any flue or chimney serving the appliance is safe and installed correctly.
  • Test the rate of gas consumption or the working gas pressure to ensure the appliance is operating correctly and adjust if necessary.
  • Your appliance is burning correctly and not producing Carbon Monoxide.
  • Visually inspect the appliance to check for corrosion and leaks.
  • Check the electrical connection.

Gas Certificates

It is also a legal requirement that Landlords have all gas appliances, pipe work and flues are checked annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer. After one of our Gas Safe registered engineers has carried out a gas safety inspection on a gas appliance they will issue the landlord with a Gas Safety Certificate on completion of the job which gives a description and the location of each appliance checked, explains what checks they carried out, any remedial work required or completed, that it meets the correct safety standards and when it needs to be serviced again.

As a Landlord you must provide the tenant with this gas safety certificate within 28 days of the inspection being carried out or at the start of a tenancy.
